Ever since our first GUIDE in 1987, our databases
became the favorite reference tool of collectors,
retailers, wholesalers, ex-&importers, record labels,
publishers and everyone else in the music business.

So you think you can find every CD simply by visiting your favorite retailer's
web site?
Well, not necessarily. For obvious reasons, music vendors have no intention to list
titles they cannot supply. What for?
They want to sell you their selection,
not provide you with a worldwide encyclopedia.
And since not even the biggest web site
offers every title in existence, they are by definition limited.
Some less, some more.

At some point, you start thinking: "There must be a better way!"
There is: It's called CD International.
Back in 1982 when the first CD saw the light of the world,
we got the great idea to start compiling a database
of every title released on these then-exotic shiny little discs.
By doing so, we have become (somewhat unwittingly) the grand-daddy of
global audio CD databases. In 1987 it became a regular business -
and as they say, the rest is history.
In 1987 we published the first
CD World Reference Guide
which became an overnight success on five continents.
This large book has presently over 1,100 pages and lists audio CDs available in
England, Germany, Japan and the USA.
It is published annually,
with a short hiatus between 1998 and the present. This was caused by
our emphasis on the
CDI on CD-ROM,
but we plan to bring the Guide back as soon as possible:
The next issue is scheduled for
late Fall 2003.
You can still buy the currently available issue of the Guide at a
discount,
and naturally you can always get the latest-greatest
CD-ROM.

What's next? Well, after we tell you what CDs are available,
the logical questions is where to get them.
Since 1993, we have published our
CD World Industry Contact Guide
listing thousands of record labels, retailers, wholesalers,
exporters, importers, mail orders and other sources from all over the world.
This valuable resource is now being adapted for a CD-ROM release
scheduled to appear
shortly.
