S.G. Goodman - Old Time Feeling
S.G. Goodman was raised in Hickman in Western Kentucky on the Mississippi River in a strict church going family of row crop farmers. Her debut solo album, co-produced with fellow Kentuckian Jim James, showcases S.G.'s otherworldly voice, which soars above a sonic blend of gritty guitars, bottomland grooves and plaintive balladry.
Old Time Feeling includes songs about mental health, living with OCD, her identity as a gay woman and how she has reconciled her social and political views with those of her hometown community.
The project was recorded over just seven days at Louisville's iconic La La Land Studio and co-produced by My Morning Jacket's Jim James, who adds in a press release, "I think she could play an important role in the healing we need to see happen right now. She’s living proof that we can be whoever we want to be, no matter where we come from."
